Local spellers sought for FCF 6th Annual Desert Foothills Community Spelling Bee

April 6th Spelling Bee raises funds for Teacher Vision Grants and Scholarships

SCOTTSDALE – The 6th Annual Desert Foothills Community Spelling Bee takes place on Wed., April 6 and the non-profit Foothills Community Foundation (FCF) is seeking teams of participants to compete in this year’s event. Teams can consist of students in seventh grade and higher, as well as adults.

Cave Creek Pro Rodeo volunteers

Volunteering with Cave Creek Pro Rodeo = Community Service Credit (Student, Corporate, Court-ordered)

Rodeo weekend requires 100+ volunteers per day.  However, there is a lot that goes on all year long just to make sure that one weekend is successful.  The Cave Creek Pro Rodeo Committee dedicates many long hours to ensure the success of the Fiesta Days Rodeo, Parade and activities.  They are always looking for new members.

Stephanie Bacher named to Triple Horse Rescue board of directors

CAVE CREEK –  Stephanie Bacher has been named to serve on the Triple R Horse Rescue board of directors. Bacher, an Arizona native who has volunteered at the rescue for more than five years, previously provided volunteer service in Canada, Mexico and two different African countries and worked with several dog rescues.

The Annual CCFDR Mutton Bustin’ Competition will be Saturday, March 19 at the Buffalo Chip Arena in Cave Creek.  After the parade, we invite all Mutton Busters, their families and Mutton Bustin’ fans to join us out back at the Buffalo Chip Arena to enjoy this great tradition.

Kiwanis invests in student artists

This spring Kiwanis begins its 15th year of encouraging local students with interest and talent in the visual arts to apply for its Art Internships. This internship gives high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors the chance to take a summer course at the Scottsdale Artists’ School.

The winners attend to the course of their choice, one class a week for four weeks in June and July.
