A Thanksgiving message

On this November 26, 2015, as you carve the turkey, and look around the table at your loved ones, there are important lessons you can teach both young and old about our American Thanksgiving holiday.

When the Pilgrims traveled to America on the Mayflower, before coming ashore, they wrote a Compact, or an agreement, on how they would govern themselves. That document inspired the Founding Fathers as they drafted our United States Constitution. The Pilgrims are among the few colonists during the Colonial period who practiced self-governance.

Resettling Syrian refugees in U.S. poses threat to Americans

Scammers impersonate Attorney General’s Office

PHOENIX – Attorney General Mark Brnovich today is warning Arizonans of an alarming new phone scam in which con artists pose as representatives of the Attorney General’s Office to steal money from consumers. The scammers appear to be targeting consumer fraud victims who have lost money in past telemarketing scams. The con artists falsely claim they can help victims get their money back. Victims are conned into paying hundreds of dollars and receive nothing in return.

Meritage Homes proposes 56-home subdivision on 12 acres

Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center seeks donor sponsors for families

The Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center seeks donors to brighten the holiday season for children, families and seniors in the northern Arizona foothills community. The food bank is working with more than a dozen local organizations and churches to provide gifts, holiday meals and hope for those in crisis in the community. The 13th annual Adopt-a-Family program will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Holland Community Center in north Scottsdale. A second site for Black Canyon City and New River residents will be held on Saturday, December 12 at High Desert Park.

678 pounds of marijuana seized, 2 smugglers arrested near Casa Grande

A 5 p.m. on Nov. 18, PCSO deputies arrested two drug smugglers from Mexico and interdicted 29 bundles of marijuana, weighing 678 pounds. The street value of the marijuana is estimated to be $339,000.
