David Smith announces his Cave Creek Town Council candidacy

As a Cave Creek citizen, I have served on the town’s budget and water advisory committees and now chair the Planning Commission. I have substantial management experience; my last employment was Deputy Director of the NYS DOH Center for Environmental Protection.

The principles I will follow as a councilman are:
1. Be honest. Do not cover-up. Do not misinterpret.
2. Respect the needs and values of Cave Creek citizens rather than parochial interests.
3. Work to ensure that the vital town infrastructure (water, wastewater and roads) are well maintained and efficiently operated.
4. Do not support the imposition of property taxes.
5. Work to ensure that the town is on a sound financial footing.
6. Work to keep what is special about Cave Creek. This includes low density residential development, maintenance of its western heritage and love of open space, support of the special character of the Town Core and support for economic development of the Cave Creek Road/Carefree Highway area, which does not negatively affect the Town Core.
7. Do not dwell on the town’s past decisions, but ensure that present decisions do not mortgage or destroy the future of Cave Creek
