The Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family awarding grants through the Child Abuse Prevention License Plate Program

PHOENIX— The Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF) is encouraging all  nonprofit organizations that serve to prevent child abuse to apply for funding through the Child Abuse Prevention License Plate Program. Last year, $477,408 was awarded to 21 organizations across the state.

You can access the application to apply for funding at: http://goyff.az.gov/.

More than 15 years ago, the Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family, the Arizona Community Foundation, and The Arizona Republic partnered to establish the Child Abuse Prevention License Plate program, with a stated goal of raising funds for child abuse prevention.  Thanks to the passage of enabling legislation, this specialty plate has been available for purchase from the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division since November of 1999.  Currently there are more than 16,000 vehicles registered in the program.  Plates are sold for $25 each, of which $8 is a special plate administration fee and $17 is a tax deductible annual donation.

“There is no higher priority than the safety and well-being of our children – and it is up to all of us to stand up for them,” said First Lady Angela Ducey. “Each year, Arizonans’ support of this program brings in hundreds of thousands of dollars to benefit the most vulnerable children in our state. It’s an easy but meaningful way to get involved and make a difference in thousands of young lives across Arizona.”

The Arizona Community Foundation, BHHS Legacy Foundation, Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, The Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust and the Valley of the Sun United Way all generously contributed matching funds to the Child Abuse Prevention License Plate Donation Grant program.
