Chinese New Year and parallels in the U.S.

Most New Year’s celebrations are fun, sort of fanciful and meant to appease the gods. That is especially true of those New Year’s celebrations with a long history of authenticity like the Chinese New Year. 2016 is the Chinese Year of the Monkey, the ninth of the twelve animals in the Chinese Zodiac calendar. Thanks to extensive research we were able to find that people born in a Year of the Monkey are called “Monkeys.” Brilliant! Celebrations are focused on home and family. Homes are thoroughly cleaned to rid them of “Huiqi” or “inauspicious breaths,” to appease their gods.
In the U.S. it’s a presidential election year that unfortunately includes a particularly “auspicious bad breath” known as “Progressive” or “Socialist” or “left wing nut.” We are calling it the “Year of the Idiot.” The year is epitomized by political panderers expressing views so far to the left that the good gods have sought refuge in the “God’s Protection Program.”

In the U.S. we have a new replacement god whose name is “Entitlement,” worshiped by Idiots who get elected and re-elected by promising their ignorant followers the same things that bankrupted (or will soon) Greece. the old Soviet Union, Venezuela, Cuba, Argentina; states like California and Illinois; cities like San Bernardino, Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, etc, etc, etc. Their mantra, “These are what I will give you voters: Entitlements, and other freebees. So kneel down you college students, unions, refugees, illegals, immigrants, etc, etc, because I am your god, “Entitlements.” But when these voters wake up they will understand why Dr. Thomas Sowell says, “All the fancy talk about “Entitlement” means simply forcing some people to work to produce things for other people who feel they have no obligation to work.”

During the Year of the Monkey, Chinese people also make presents of red colored scrolls printed with meaningful messages. In the U.S. we’ve adopted this fine tradition with especially sensible messages like these:

* My people skills are great. It’s my tolerance for idiots that needs work.

* When did it change from “We the People” to “Screw the people”?

* If God wanted me to touch my toes, He would have put them on my knees.

* We are advised to NOT judge all Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.

* We constantly hear that Social Security is going to run out of money, but we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money.

* We are cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our Armed Services, but we’re not stopping payments or benefits to illegals or refugees.

* Of course I talk to myself. Sometimes I need expert advice.

Thanks for and credit to unknown blogers for the above. God bless and thanks to Chinese citizens for their intelligent use of their New Year.
