MULLET OVER BY JAMES K. WHITE  |  NOVEMBER 25, 2015

People with musical abilities superior to mine have determined that most telephone dial tones are in the key of F.

A should-be-outlawed chili pepper called the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T has been assayed by a few maimed survivors to be near the 1,500,000 level. Just FYI: Police Pepper Spray is typically in the 5,300,000 Scoville Heat Units range – more than 2000 times as hot as pure tabasco sauce.

Scientists claim that all DNA bonds break down in less than 7 million years (even with ideal preservation conditions). The last dinosaur passed away more than 63 million years ago. Unfortunately, these two bits of information seem to make the entertaining Jurassic Park plot an impossible setup. Next those meddling scientists may destroy my fantasies about Dumbo the Flying Elephant. The 443 foot tall Ferris Wheel in England is called the London Eye and is quite impressive. The 541 foot Singapore Flyer (in Singapore!) is now in operation.

However, construction plans are being finalized for the 625 foot New York Wheel. A site on Staten Island has been chosen and the targeted completion date is summer of 2016. Passengers on the NYW are to enjoy 12 revolutions and total ride time is scheduled to be 38 minutes – details subject to change. At last count (about 22 minutes ago), 75 towns on earth were named Waterloo.

It appears the world is simply not going to let the Bonaparte family forget that 1815 boo-boo. It was back in 1565 that Spaniards established what would become St. Augustine, Florida. The settlement is considered by many to be the oldest city in the U.S.A. It was not until 55 years later (in 1620) that the Mayflower landed near Plymouth Rock.

I might add some believe Pensacola, Florida (1559) and extant Native American sites pre-date the establishment of St. Augustine. In 1943, Ashville, NY created America’s first all-female city fire department. You likely already knew that “blog” was short for “web log,” which is a web site where one (or more) posts a continuing journal. Most blogs I have visited seem to be way high on the boring scale.

Well, I suggest that you avoid munching upon items that are way high on the Scoville scale – and enjoy a calm pleasant week. James White is a retired mathematics teacher who enjoys sharing fascinating trivia. He can be reached at [email protected]
