North Valley Symphony Orchestra announces concertmaster and adult member auditions

PHOENIX – North Valley Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the audition dates for the upcoming 2015-16 season. Openings include the concertmaster position, plus a variety of other string, wind, and brass positions. If you have a passion to perform great music, can meet weekly to rehearse and are willing to commit to the necessary practice, NVSO wants you in the orchestra.

Auditions will be held at the North Phoenix Chamber of Commerce office, (3141 E. Beardsley Rd., Unit 120, Phoenix, 85050).  Concertmaster auditions are being scheduled 2-4 p.m., Saturday, June 27. Auditions to join the NVSO Adult Orchestra are being scheduled Saturday, Aug. 8, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Seats currently open and available, as well as audition instructions and excerpts can be found on the website: http://www.northvalleysymphony.org/adult-orchestra/

The opening concert of the 2015-16 season, “Machine Madness,” will be held in October (tentatively Oct. 17), and includes Daugherty’s Route 66, Beethoven’s The Metronome from Symphony #8, Adams’ Short Ride in a Fast Machine, Walton’s Prelude and Fugue, "The Spitfire," Haydn’s The Clock from Symphony #101, Anderson’s The Typewriter, and other popular mechanical-sounding pieces.
