Arizona Department of Education announces Online Certification Portal

PHOENIX – The Arizona Department of Education today announced the release of a public certification portal, which will allow members of the public to verify certificate information of Arizona educators.

“I am pleased that we are now able to offer this simple online access to basic certificate information,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Diane Douglas. “It will help our parents more easily understand the qualifications held by their children’s teachers and will allow educators to quickly check their certification status.”

The Online Arizona Certification and Information System (OACIS) portal will provide open access to certification information and will reduce the need to contact the Department’s Certification office to verify the status of an educator’s certificate. The public portal allows users to view:

• Valid educator certificates and endorsements
• Certificate deficiencies and requirements to satisfy deficiencies
• Current educator positions (grade level and subject)
• A Yes/No indication of whether or not an educator has disciplinary history on file. A “Yes” will only be displayed if an educator’s certificate(s) has been revoked, suspended, surrendered, or denied by the Arizona State Board of Education or if similar discipline has been reported by another state to the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC).

Public portal users may search for a certificate by entering the educator’s name or public educator ID number. In order to narrow the search, users also may enter or view the educator’s current position.

The public portal can be accessed at oacis.azed.gov.
