Kids Care Club, a local non-profit dedicated to getting elementary and middle school students involved in volunteering, spent an afternoon cleaning up trash at Lake Pleasant. The team collected several large trash bags of plastic bottles, cigarette butts, paper. Lexi Goebel, 4th grader at Grayhawk Elementary, had the most interesting find - a large swath of carpet. After the event, the team had a picnic and completed a reflection exercise on why it is important to keep the environment clean.

David Jordan, Park Supervisor, stated "Here at Lake Pleasant, we rely heavily on the support of volunteers to assist with various projects to include trash cleanup, land rehabilitation and other program-related activities. In 2014, cleanup volunteers contributed over 500 hours of service and removed over 85 large bags of debris and from lake and shoreline areas."
