Scottsdale pools host public swim on Labor Day

McDowell Mountain Ranch, Eldorado and Cactus aquatic centers will be open for the last day of public swim on Labor Day, from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1. Head out to the pools and enjoy this summer’s final ride down the slide.

Make a positive difference for residents in assisted living and nursing homes– volunteer opportunity
The Ombudsman program of Area Agency on Aging, Region One, Inc. is looking for caring individuals to visit assisted living homes in order to make residents aware of their rights. Volunteers will take part in a comprehensive and in-the-field training and receive support from the Ombudsman staff. Fall hours at railroad park resume Sept. 1
McCormick Stillman Railroad Park will resume fall hours Monday, Sept. 1. The park will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Train and carousel rides and Hartley’s General Store operate during these hours. The award-winning model railroad building will be open from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Park reservations can be made from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. The park’s historic railroad museum reopens in October through May. The 30-acre park is at the southeast corner of Indian Bend and Scottsdale roads. Amenities include train and carousel rides, food concessions, two playgrounds, birthday party facilities, reservable and drop-in picnic areas, the historic railroad museum and model railroad building, a desert arboretum and retail shops.
