Committee says recall drive is back on track

CAVE CREEK – The Cave Creek Caring Citizens (CCCC) Committee says they are back on track collecting signatures to recall Vice Mayor Adam Trenk as well as the slate of councilmen he campaigned with, Mike Durkin, Reg Monachino and Charles Spitzer.

While they were dealt a blow by the court, which invalidated entire sheets of petitions, bringing the number of signatures just shy of the number required, CCCC Chair Susan Clancy said they have learned their lesson and this time around their signature petitions should be close to perfect. They plan to also have the assistance of an attorney to guide them through the entire process, including any possible legal challenges they may face.

Meanwhile, Dennis Driscoll, who assisted with collecting signatures the first time around, said he will make himself available for people to sign by going to their homes if they call him at 480-575-1471.

Clancy said she is confident they will have a sufficient number of signatures that will be “challenge proof,” allowing for a recall election to be held on March 17, 2014, the next available date under the consolidated election law.
