The Sun Cities Bridge Clubs united effort to host the ACBL Longest Day Alzheimer's Association fundraiser was a great success. The contribution from the Sun Cities Bridge Players currently totals over $3,600, and it is still growing. On Saturday, June 21, the four bridge clubs of the Sun Cities (Sun City Duplicate Bridge, Kiva West Duplicate Bridge Club of Sun City West, Sun City Grand Bridge Club, and the Corte Bella Bridge Club) united to run two sanctioned ACBL bridge sessions and one social contract bridge session to raise money to support Alzheimer’s research and care. Over 160 bridge players came out to support the event and community support in providing food and door prizes was appreciated. The Peoria Bridge Studio also closed to support this Longest Day event. Sun City West resident Gerry Connor offered to match the table fees in the afternoon duplicate game as a tribute to Charles Lee's special friend, Betty Ward, who was recently taken by Alzheimer's.
