Arizona Opera Announces Roster for 2014-15 Marion Roose Pullin Opera Studio

PHOENIX – Arizona Opera General Director Ryan Taylor has announced the Marion Roose Pullin Studio Artists for the 2014-15 season.  Studio Artists are in residence all season to perform and cover roles in Arizona Opera's mainstage productions, receive regular coaching and training, and appear in concert throughout the state. Under the direction of Allen Perriello, this residency program serves to bridge the gap between the artists' academic studies and a professional career.

DAR Flag Day commemoration

Grand Canyon Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) attended a Flag Day Luncheon June 14, hosted by the Cactus Wren Chapter and held at Iron Oaks Country Club, Sun Lakes.  Guest speaker was Colonel Joe Abodeely, (Ret), director of the Arizona Military Museum. Special guest was Jennifer Smestad, Miss Arizona.

Scottsdale Fire Department deputy chief wins prestigious fire safety honor

SCOTTSDALE – Deputy Fire Chief Jim Ford has been recognized for his efforts to provide fire protection and emergency services to the Scottsdale community. Ford received the R. Wayne Powell Excellence in Fire Prevention Award, the highest honor given by both the United States Fire Administration and the Prevention Advocacy Resources and Data Exchange, a network of agencies that share fire-prevention resources.
