Legalization is amnesty and must not be allowed

“The primary goal for illegal immigrants is legalization, not citizenship, and providing legalization is nothing less than amnesty”, said Peter J. Thomas, Chairman of The Conservative Caucus (TCC).  He called on Congress to reject the amnesty being promoted by the House Republican leadership.

Thomas said that many illegal immigrants have little or no interest in citizenship, pointing out that fewer than half of those granted amnesty in 1986 later became American citizens.  “Their goal in illegally crossing the border and illegally obtaining jobs was primarily to make money” he said.  “Granting them legal status is all the amnesty that they want.”

“Giving illegal aliens the right to remain and work in the U.S. would reward them for breaking the law, punish those who patiently waited for legal entry, and deprive American workers of jobs”, Thomas stated.

The Conservative Caucus is a grass roots public policy action organization, formed in 1974.  It was active in defeating the SALT II Treaty, repealing the Catastrophic Coverage Act, blocking the Clinton health-care takeover, impeaching President Clinton, and stopping amnesty for illegal aliens.
