Locals win championship titles

The American Quarter Horse Association, Oklahoma City – Jeff Habighorst of Cave Creek, Arizona, captured the world championship title in amateur weanling geldings at the American Quarter Horse Association 2013 Bank of America Amateur World Championship Show on
Thursday, November 14 in Oklahoma City.

Habighorst showed the American Quarter Horse Coolsified Secret a 2013 sorrel gelding owned by Vernon Habighorst of Phoenix, Arizona. Coolsified Secret, sired by Kid Coolsified and out of Milans Pretty Secret, was bred by S.D. Trahan and C. Tucker of Dallas, Texas.

In the amateur weanling geldings class, 12 entries competed for world champion honors and a purse of $7,007.40. World champions received a prize package that included a custom-designed gold trophy, Montana Silversmiths buckle, specially designed logoed jacket, courtesy of Cripple Creek Outerwear, a WeatherBeeta embroidered blanket, neck wreath, a medallion and 100 pounds of Nutrena feed.

Christa Hampton of Cave Creek, Arizona, captured the reserve world championship title in amateur boxing at the American Quarter Horse Association 2013 Bank of America Amateur World Championship Show on Friday, November 15 in Oklahoma City.

Hampton showed her American Quarter Horse TR Spooky Cat. The 2007 sorrel gelding, sired by TR Dual Rey and out of Haintscatsnholycows, was bred by Dubina Rose Ranch, LTD of Schulenburg, Texas.

In the amateur boxing class, 43 entries competed for world champion honors and a purse of $12,209.85. Reserve world champions received a prize package that included a custom-designed silver trophy, Montana Silversmiths buckle, sponsored by The American Quarter Horse Journal, specially designed logoed jacket, courtesy of Cripple Creek Outerwear, a WeatherBeeta embroidered blanket and a medallion.
