Four ways to participate now in the 2014 Scottsdale General Plan process

Bookmark and Share

The process to create Scottsdale’s General Plan 2014 is under way, and your input is paramount to its success. There are four immediate ways to get involved in the process. It’s your plan, it’s your future – ensure your voice is heard by participating now in the following:

Transportation Workshops/Café Conversations: Sign up to attend the Wednesday, Sept. 18, Transportation Workshops/Café Conversations. Two identical sessions take place – 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 8 p.m., at the Jewish Community Center, 12701 N. Scottsdale Road. Some of the important discussions include: What do you think about transit in Scottsdale? Does the city provide adequate support for biking and walking? How does growing traffic congestion affect quality of life? The “café conversation” format is informal and designed to encourage open dialogue in an inviting environment.

Community Character Virtual Workshop: Those who were unable to attend the second in a series of General Plan Workshops can still provide feedback. Through Wednesday, Sept. 18, you can log onto www.scottsdalegp.com and participate in an online version of the “Community Character” workshop. Informational materials are the same as those that were presented at the in-person workshops and a similar mapping exercise is available, too. At the virtual workshop, you can tell us what unique characteristics define areas of Scottsdale and how important they are to you, among other things.

Environmental Quality and Conservation - Speak Up Scottsdale!: In October, the General Plan 2014 Task Force is scheduled to discuss Scottsdale’s environmental quality and conservation, and it needs your input:
** Saguaros? Scorpions? Scenery? What are Scottsdale’s most important natural resources and how should they be maintained for the future?
** Bright Idea: Should Scottsdale be a leader in renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind) or energy conservation? If so, what steps can be taken to make this happen?

Join the conversation through our online engagement forum, Speak Up Scottsdale at http://speakupscottsdale.com/discussions/gp2014-environment-and-conservation/topics/natural-resources.
