I taught school at Paradise Valley High School from 1962-1970. The kids came down from Cave Creek then when Cave Creek was still Wild West i.e., Buffalo Chip was then the Maverick.

Your paper is GREAT. Keep it up please!

Bil will be 93 in October – let’s have someone organize a party!

You people in Cave Creek were warned

For thirty five years I've watched Cave Creek and the politicians come close to imploding the town with their back stabbing and continuous vendettas.

I remember thinking Cave Creek was the closet thing we have to an open old fashioned Wild West town and hence the turmoil. Then I thought it's like a mysterious place to kind of reinvent one’s self and let it all hang out. I mean where else could an ex-night club pole dancer get onto the council....or a gal who was a locally known 'sniffer' while she was a council member just prior to getting nabbed (and convicted) by the feds in a sting operation ... or a local trouble maker who didn't understand how to use email yet claimed she graduated from a Big 10 University … where else but in Cave Creek?

In all likelihood it's probably an "all of the above" scenario; however, the biggest reason is: Cave Creek's electorate never have taken their voting seriously … they really don't care until they get into deep doodo, like now.

You people in Cave Creek were warned about the current members of the council and you again have what you wanted.

Cave Creek deserves all the bad stuff and litigation expenses that come with this latest fiasco.....you've earned it.

Regarding COINS Info - Road Safety Update

You neglected to mention that Cyclists are required, by law, to observe the same traffic regulations as motor vehicles.  That includes coming to a full stop at stop signs and traffic lights.  Riding single file on roadways, especially narrow roadways, like Stagecoach Pass, is extremely important.  Failing to enforce traffic laws equally for Cyclists could be deemed municipal negligence, not to mention dangerous for Cyclists as well as motorists.

Civil unrest recurring in Egypt

People of Egypt, over two and one-half years ago I wrote about your plight as you struggled for your freedom from former President Hosni Mubarak.  I too shared in your joy when he left power and became even more excited about your first democratic elections.  Sadly though, the understanding of democracy has not caught up with the mechanism of democracy.  Yes indeed there was a vote and candidates won with a majority {albeit a very small one} but I don't think anyone in Egypt fully comprehended the responsibilities that are required of a democratically elected republican {representative} form of government.  It is similar to preparing for a camel race without knowing the rules of the race.  Winning an election does not constitute the acquirement of absolute dictatorial power.   It requires that those elected serve all the people and not just those who supported them.

Even in the United States we have checks and balances {as set up by our Constitution} that limit what those in power can do.   As much as I am in disagreement with the coup d'état executed by your military I am also hopeful that once the violent protest recedes into peaceful protest the election process can begin again with those newly elected officials having learned a lesson from this first-time fiasco.  My brothers and sisters of democracy who are members of the Muslim Brotherhood need to understand compromise for the public good is not necessarily a compromise of one's religious beliefs.  You must come to a fundamental agreement with my brothers and sisters of democracy who are members of the secular group that you agree to disagree without having to resort to violence.   The Egyptian military needs to be convinced that your two groups will come together to form a strong united country before they are willing to suspend martial law. You must demonstrate to them {and the world} that whether you are secular or Islamist, Christian or Muslim it is more important for all to live in peace and have equal opportunity than for a chosen few to rule as dictators in support of one small faction.  People of Egypt, it is up to you.

How worse is worse in Syria?

Approximately four months ago, I wrote an opinion, “Which is worse: Death by chemical warfare or bombing?” Back then, I criticized the characterization of the “redline” that President Obama has so artfully described as a “game changer” if the dictator, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weapons on its own people.  Well the recent information, but unconfirmed reports, offers mounting evidence of chemical use.  The White House is still not convinced the Syrian regime would use chemical gas own its own people. The indecisiveness is deafening and sending an incredibly awful message to the world and the dictator.

At what point does the International community under the leadership of America, end the carnage and suffering of the Syrian people? Is it 2 million refuges sitting in squalor in border neighboring countries? If that is the trigger, Obama just needs 500,000 more.  Moreover, approximately 50,000 men, women and children have perished in the civil war that has been ravishing the country, and the death toll continues to climb each day. When does this stop?

As the civil war drags on, it is becoming more complex for any kind of U.S. intervention.  Now a stronger and more sophisticated jihadist is fighting alongside faction rebel forces. Eventually Yemen will not be the epic center on terrorist training, Syria will, after Bashar al-Assad is overthrown.  

If we trust only diplomacy and redlines, rather than to show America’s military or economic might, then the world’s bad actors like Iran and other middle-east countries or North Korea have nothing to fear.

President Obama’s Colorado speech has terrified America

On July 2, 2008 President Obama delivered a speech in Boulder in which he promised the creation and establishment of a “Civilian National Security Force.” He further promised it would be “just as powerful, just as strong and just as well funded as the U.S. Military.” He said, “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set.”

There is 1925 precedence for such a force when Hitler formed his own bodyguard called the Schutzstaffel (SS). The SS grew from a small paramilitary unit into a military organization that was despised by the regular German army. The armed SS (Waffen-SS) grew from three regiments to over 38 divisions during World War II. It was directly responsible for the Malmedy massacre in which 80 American prisoners of war were executed on December 17, 1944 by the Peiper brigade of the 1st SS Panzer Division during the Battle of the Bulge.

The national security objectives described by Obama define a brutal totalitarian regime modeled after the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin. The tyranny he promised is now upon us as described by John Whitehead in his book “A Government of Wolves.” Obama can use the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act that he signed into law on January 2 to allow the arrest and indefinite military detention of U.S. citizens. In addition, he can secretly target U.S. citizens for execution without even charging them with a crime as admitted by AG Eric Holder.

On February 15, The Denver Post published an article about the Department of Homeland Security issuing an open purchase order for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition including hollow points. Expensive hollow points are not intended for practice. Instead, they will be targeted against U.S. citizens.

Unalienable means: Not to be separated, given away, or taken away; inalienable! Can you explain to me how GW Bush and Barrack Hussein Obama II could take away rights which men and women formally enjoyed from the Magna Carta of 1215 AD, about 800 years ago? Can you explain why the major media yawns at this travesty and corruption of the U.S. Constitution which our military, police and elected officials swore to uphold?
