$1500 cash prizes to be awarded in The Society of Southwestern Authors 33rd Annual Writing Contest

The Society of Southwestern Authors 33rd Annual Writing Contest will award $1500 in cash prizes in three categories: short fiction, personal essay/memoir, and poetry. Entry fees are $15 each entry and all entries must be in or postmarked by August 31, 2013.

“In addition to the chance of winning a substantial cash prize, each writer will receive professional feedback for his or her entry,” said society president Chris Stern.
Prizes to be awarded are: $250 for first place, $125 for second, $75 for third, and $25 for honorable mention. Word limits are 2500 maximum for short fiction, 2500 maximum for personal essay/memoir, and 40 lines maximum for poetry.

Winners will be announced at the October 20 Society of Southwestern Authors Forum in Tucson.
