The APS vote • Equestrian alert

As far as I can tell Cave Creek is the only municipality that voted against the APS plan to add a rate increase to solar electric users. I have asked for but not received statewide, or service-area-wide percentages.

Ignore oil-pipeline alarmism

Several of the country's most powerful environmental groups have latched on to this spring's 10,000-barrell Arkansas oil spill to fight against a federal permit for Keystone XL, a proposed transnational pipeline project. New Washington-DC subway ads from SumOfUs.org claim this spill is just a "preview" of what will come by connecting Canadian oil deposits with refineries in the Texas Gulf Coast.

In my native city of Detroit, Atlas has at long last shrugged

I’m sad. Detroit is my native city. Its decline from being arguably the world’s richest city to being America’s “first Third World city” is tragic, politically criminal and a warning to other Americans.

The phony president

These are the words of Barack Hussein Obama during a speech at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., on July 25, 2013. Branding all of his burgeoning scandals ranging from Benghazi-gate, to Navy SEAL-gate, to IRS-gate, to NSA-gate, as simply “phony” is an attempt to deflect attention away from the seriousness of them all and their mounting disastrous effect on his presidency. If calling four dead Americans at Benghazi, the murder of 22 SEAL Team VI and special ops heroes, the targeting of Americans by the IRS based on their political views and the effective wholesale NSA telephone and Internet surveillance of citizens phony, then what is “real” anymore?

Time to confront black racism

When I was a young boy, I religiously watched the cartoon “Popeye” on television. The famous tattooed sailor whose girlfriend was Olive Oil and who got his strength from eating spinach used to say when he had had it with his nemesis, Bruto, “Enough is enough and enough is too much!” That’s the way many non-blacks are beginning to feel about the constant drumbeat among many blacks that Trayvon Martin’s death was the result of so-called racial profiling by whites. According to them, it is for this reason alone that Zimmerman should have been convicted of second-degree murder or at least manslaughter.
