Ib Andersen's ballet was created specifically for the Desert Botanical Garden inspired by the natural beauty of the Sonora Desert landscape.

Desert Foothills Land Trust’s 18th Annual ‘Sonoran Stars’ fundraiser set for Sat., April 27 at Los Cedros USA

CAVE CREEK – Guests to this year’s 18th Annual “Sonoran Stars” event to benefit Desert Foothills Land Trust will be treated to an evening like no other on Sat., April 27. The non-profit organization, which works to protect the beautiful landscape of our fragile Sonoran Desert, decided to create a new experience for its valued supporters by moving the event to the elegant and majestic Los Cedros USA equestrian facility at 8700 E. Black Mountain Road in north Scottsdale.

Incentive bags make a difference

On April 11, ninety canvas incentive bags from the Sonoran Arts League were presented to local students at the Celebration of the Arts at the Cactus Shadows Fine Arts Center, the Art Education & Community Services partner on this special event. The students ranged from kindergarten to high school and were given age appropriate art supplies and art appreciation books in canvas bags.

Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast brings community together

April’s Carefree Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast brought 546 folks together for humongous (and very tasty) pancakes, gourmet sausage, great coffee and fresh OJ, plus a terrific al fresco jazz concert by the award-winning Cactus Shadows Jazz Band.

If you’re the type of person who can’t make plans months ahead, here’s good news. There’s still time to register yourself or your team for the 3rd Annual Cave Creek/Carefree Relay for Life. On Saturday, April 20, hundreds of people will be taking part in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life – a relay celebration dedicated to those who have survived cancer, those fighting cancer or in memory of those we have lost to cancer.
