Relying on your tax deductible donations, they are currently conducting their annual fund drive. Posse volunteers transport prisoners, patrol neighborhoods, provide court bailiffs, direct traffic, and back up deputies. ‘Operation Notification’ is their annual collection of emergency contact information for area businesses to help deputies handle problems. DFSP is very active at community events, providing security and traffic control. Members assist at accident scenes, perform community traffic studies, and monitor problem traffic areas. The Posse also conducts the ‘Vacation Watch’ program, checking home security for residents during absences. Summer months can easily generate several hundred home checks. In 2012, nearly 16,000 hours were contributed by these unpaid volunteers. In short, the posse extends the capacity of the Sheriff’s Office. Members are our neighbors, contributing their time because they feel they can make a difference in our community and they truly depend on your donations. Help them out.
