Lone Mountain Elementary principal needs courageous kidney donor

Bookmark and Share

Nancy Shaver, long time parent, community member, teacher and currently principal at Lone Mountain, has been diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease.  She is in need of a kidney.  As of now her kidney function has reduced to less than 20 percent making her a candidate for a transplant.   Several family members have been tested but so far none have been a match for her.   Nancy has type O blood and the donor must have a compatible matching blood type. The first step is to have a blood test to determine compatibility, then tissue matching to determine the presence of antigens or markers and finally a third test which determines cross matching.   Nancy's insurance will cover most of the expenses for the donor.

To call her Living Donor transplant coordinator dial 480-342-1010.  You will be asked a series of questions.  You can also call the Mayo Clinic at 480-342-2000 for general questions.  Ask for a kidney transplant coordinator.

Donating a kidney is a courageous act.  Please help spread the word for Nancy.
Thank you for your consideration.
