Submit Your “Visions of Scottsdale” in an Online Photo Challenge

The greenbelt, golf courses and grand mountain vistas – these are just some of the visions that come to mind when people talk about Scottsdale.

What do you picture when you think of Scottsdale?

That’s the question in the Visions of Scottsdale Photo Challenge, sponsored by the Scottsdale 2014 General Plan.

Submit your photographs atwww.capturemyarizona.com/challenges from Jan. 18 through Feb. 28 and they may be selected and used by the city for exhibits, videos and printed material to promote the city and the general plan.

“While the general plan will ultimately be an important document full of policies and maps to guide the city’s future, sometimes photos really tell the story best,” says Scottsdale Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane. “We hope Scottsdale residents will rise to the challenge and show us their visions of Scottsdale’s wonderful people and places.”

Two winners will be selected from among the photos submitted, and each will receive two tickets to a performance at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.

The photo challenge will run parallel to a visioning process where participants will craft a draft vision statement for Scottsdale’s 2014 General Plan.

Crafting a draft vision statement through the Town Hall process is just the starting point. There will be significant opportunities for widespread citizen involvement as the 2014 General Plan process moves forward, culminating in a possible public vote in November 2014.
