mesa coupleCAVE CREEK – Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies arrested Desiree Dawn David, 28, and Landrey Loren Alex, 26, of Mesa on Sept. 14 on felony child abuse charges as they exited the Buffalo Chip Saloon.

MCSO received a call from someone at the bar saying there were two young children unattended in a car in the parking lot.

When the deputy arrived at around 11:30 p.m. he learned David, Alex and their two children, ages 3 and 4, arrived at the Buffalo Chip at around 8:30 p.m.

At around 11 p.m., it appears the couple took the children out to their car and returned to the bar to continue drinking.

The couple came out of the bar shortly after the deputy arrived and were found to be highly inebriated with blood alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit.

The couple was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail while the children were placed into the custody of their grandmother upon CPS being notified.

David has a history of alcohol abuse and was recently released from the Arizona Department of Corrections for an aggravated DUI conviction, a class 4 felony.

Alex also has prior convictions, including two underage alcohol-related charges and a criminal damage charge in Flagstaff when he was either 19 or 20.

Both David and Alex were released from custody on Monday.
