Orientation for Pioneer Living History Museum Volunteers


Existing Pioneer Living History Museum volunteers are invited to attend either the Saturday Jan. 28 or the Sunday Jan. 29, 10 a.m. Volunteer Orientation and Gun Safety to be held in the restaurant at the Pioneer Living History Museum (3901 W. Pioneer Road, Phoenix, AZ 85086).

New volunteer cards will be issued and the board will speak to the volunteers about their vision for the future of Pioneer. If you want to continue as a volunteer – you must come to one (not both) of these training/meeting sessions held in the restaurant as the Museum.
There will be opportunities for those interested in becoming volunteers at another time soon.

Green Building lecture features “Green Neighborhoods”

Green isn’t just about buildings.  At the February 2 “Green Neighborhoods” lecture, you’ll learn about efforts to create compact, walkable, mixed-use neighborhoods and spaces that encourage social interaction.  You’ll also find out about Scottsdale’s progress in developing a bicycle-friendly and pedestrian-scale city.  Finally, you’ll explore the possibilities of urban farming and community gardens which promote a sense of community and offer the health benefits of physical activity and fresh, locally-grown produce.

The Scottsdale Green Building Lecture Series is free and runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month through June.  It is held at the Granite Reef Senior Center, 1700 N. Granite Reef Road, Scottsdale.

Are you ready for the future?  Explore innovative and trend-setting projects that excel in energy efficiency, material resources, water reuse and unique building design solutions.
