Turf Paradise jockeys tie the knot

patricia trimble and rusty shawPHOENIX – Patricia Trimble and Rusty Shaw have known each other for more than ten years as they both worked as professional jockeys. This season, the both of them are racing at Turf Paradise and that’s when they decided to get married at a service held at the racetrack’s front courtyard.

The bride and groom had a busy day before the ceremony on November 11. Rusty rode in the 7th race. Patricia rode in the 5th and 9th races.

She won the 5th race.  The 9th race took place at 4:30 p.m. and the wedding was set to begin at 5:30 p.m.

That didn't leave Patricia much time but she was not worried, “They’re not going to start without me.”

The wedding was attended by friends and family, and several fellow jockeys.

Both the bride and groom returned to the track the next day. Rusty had a race and Patricia was there to cheer him on.

Turf Paradise opened its doors January 7, 1956, making Valley history as the first organized professional sports franchise in Arizona. The current season runs through May 6, 2012.
