Linda’s W.I.S.H. Breast Cancer Walk/Run October 1

Benefiting Susan G. Komen AZ 3-Day For The Cure

ANTHEM – During the past six years, Team W.I.S.H. Arizona & the awesome staff at Ironwood Golf Course, Anthem, AZ have partnered their fundraising efforts with a 5K-breast cancer walk/run.  At the ‘helm’ of this event was leader, co-founder and captain, Linda Kacmarsky of Team W.I.S.H. who marveled everyone with her determination and tenacity to help find a cure for breast cancer.  However, this year finds the Team without their leader, who fought so hard through her battle with breast cancer, as Linda lost her battle in December 2010.

Dy Mogan, Co-Captain states, “We renamed the walk, “Linda’s W.I.S.H.” because in her honor we will continue to Walk in Spirit and Hope until this dreaded disease is no more.”
Last year’s walk raised over $7,500 with more then 500 participants enjoying the beautiful winding paths through the golf course.

This year’s event has been embraced with new sponsors, DLC Resources, Inc., the country club’s landscape group by providing drinking water for participants as well the event t-shirt sponsor Faxitron X-Ray.  Faxitron CEO Bob Dockendorff lives in Anthem and says, “We are so proud to have our logo on this year’s shirt and are truly committed to improving women’s healthcare.” Each participate that signs up, $20 fee by September 9, will receive a commemorative “Linda’s W.I.S.H.” t-shirt plus continental breakfast provided by the Ironwood Country Club.

“Our hearts will be heavy this year without our beloved captain and friend, but knowing Linda she would be kicking us along the way, cheering louder then anyone and telling us to take care of the business…which we will!  To help raise funds to find a cure for breast cancer,’ states Carol Stacy, co-captain. Once again the Boulder Creek High School Spirit Team, Girl Scouts & Boy Scouts and volunteers will be back to cheer on the walkers & runners!
