Two cousins charged in Wallow Fire

‘This devastating fire destroyed pristine national forest, scenic wilderness, and numerous nearby homes and cabins’

PHOENIX – Criminal charges were filed in U.S. District Court on Aug. 24, 2011 against two cousins, Caleb Joshua Malboeuf, 26, of Benson, and David Wayne Malboeuf, 24, of Tucson, for starting the Wallow Fire. The Wallow Fire started on May 29, 2011 in the Alpine Ranger District of the Apache National Forest, Bear Wallow Wilderness, south of the town of Alpine.

Judge calls CCUSD bond lawsuit ‘very interesting first impression case’

‘We live in a democracy; we don’t always get our way … Getting permission is expensive’

PHOENIX – Oral arguments in Friedman v. Cave Creek Unified School District were held on Tuesday before Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Elaine Willet, who took the matter under advisement.

The lawsuit, which was filed by the Goldwater Institute on behalf of CCUSD resident Jayne Friedman in April, asserts Section 34 of a session law passed in 2010, is unconstitutional, is a special law and violates a contract between the district and voters. Keep reading ...

WASHINGTON – Last month, Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, introduced HR 2613, the Citizens Protection Act of 2011, which would completely repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act (GFSZA) of 1990.

It is currently a federal felony for any person to travel armed on public sidewalks, roads, or highways which pass within 1,000 feet of any K-12 school’s property line. The vast number of schools in urban areas has turned some cities into giant gun-free zones.

PHOENIX – Terry Gilberg, 550 KFYI Talk Radio host, will moderate a panel discussion from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 10 at the Phoenix Airport Marriott Hotel, 1101 N. 44th St. on the controversial Raza Studies program taught at the Tucson Unified School District.

In response to public concerns over the Mexican-American Ethnic Studies program, previously called Raza (Race) Studies by the district, the state passed HB 2281 in 2010 to prohibit public schools from utilizing curriculums that included objectives such as overthrowing our government, ethnic resentment, redefining “la familia” (the family), and other anti-American goals.

“Man’s inhumanity to…animals” sends Phoenix Herpetological Society to the rescue!

Seven reptiles, including five pythons, now safely sanctuaried at PHS in north Scottsdale; but sadly, twenty-eight animals remain at life-risk

SCOTTSDALE – August 23.  Over the August 19-21 weekend, a production crew, working at a location in northwest Arizona for “Animal Planet,” had been filming for programming titled “Confessions:  Animal Hoarding,” scheduled to air in November 2011.  It appears that “Animal Planet,” itself, had been tipped off by the male hoarder’s younger sister, probably fearing for the safety of her four-year old daughter and her brother’s six-year old son,  neither a match against an escaped 16-foot Reticulated Python!  Pythons are not venomous; but adults have 150 razor-sharp teeth -- to which Russ Johnson can painfully attest!
