Game and Fish implements fire restrictions at many wildlife areas

PHOENIX – The Arizona Game and Fish Department has implemented fire restrictions at some of its wildlife areas to coincide with and complement fire restrictions implemented by other resource management agencies.

The Game and Fish Department has implemented restrictions at:
* Arlington Wildlife Area
* Base and Meridian Wildlife Area
* Becker Lake Wildlife Area
* Chevelon Creek Wildlife Area
* Cibola Wildlife Area
* Cluff Ranch Wildlife Area
* Horseshoe Ranch Wildlife Area
* Powers Butte Wildlife Area
* Quigley Wildlife Area
* Raymond Ranch Wildlife Area
* Robbins Butte Wildlife Area
* Roosevelt Lake Wildlife Area
* Santa Rita Wildlife Area
* Springerville Marsh Wildlife Area
* Sunflower Flat Wildlife Area
* Three Bar Wildlife Area
* Upper Verde River Wildlife Area
* Wenima Wildlife Area
* White Mountain Grasslands Wildlife Area
* Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area
* Willcox Playa Wildlife Area

In those affected wildlife areas, no open fires are allowed – including charcoal-burning barbecues. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, is prohibited. No fireworks are allowed. Welding or operating acetylene or other torch devices with open flames is prohibited.

However, these wildlife areas remain open, offering an excellent outdoor recreation experience, and you can still use gas and propane stoves, lanterns or heating devices.
