Keep your kids safe and our planet clean by recycling your car seat

Residents can give a boost to their family's safety and the environment by dropping off their car seats to be recycled through Wednesday, April 20, at the Lou Witzeman Public Safety Building, 8401 E. Indian School Road.

Car seat recycling also will be available from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, April 22, at Tempe Marketplace, near the Loop 101 and Rio Salado Parkway.

Car seats have a safety life span of about five years.

Scottsdale Fire Department is partnering with Phoenix Children's Hospital, Safe Kids of Maricopa County and other sponsors for the "Keep our Planet Neat, Recycle your Car Seat" event in honor of Earth Day on April 22.
