Entries sought for April 6th ‘First Annual Fiesta Days • Dan Lebsock Memorial Golf Tournament’

CAVE CREEK – Cave Creek is gearing up for its 33rd Annual Fiesta Days Rodeo, April 6-10, and excitement is already building about this year’s golf tournament, which will feature a $50,000 50 / 50 Hole in One Challenge.  The DFCA is “looking for a few good golfers” in hopes that someone makes the hole-in-one in support of DFCA Charities.

“I’m a newer member of the DFCA”, said Tracey Slagle, the 2011 Tournament Chairperson, “but I jumped at the chance to help out.  We plan to make the 2011 FDR Tournament more successful than past tournaments.  By adding this 50 / 50 Hole, we hope to have one lucky golfer that not only wins a lot of money, but also helps us tremendously with our fundraising efforts.”

Interested entrants can download the golf registration form www.CaveCreekRodeo.com. Completed forms can be mailed with payment to:  DFCA, Attn: FDR Golf, P.O. Box 647, Cave Creek, AZ 85327.  Golfers can also register online with a credit card at www.CaveCreekRodeo.com under the Fiesta Days tab and then click on “Golf Tournament”.  The cost is $440 per foursome or $500 per foursome with a Hole Sponsor Package and includes the Prime Rib dinner and Awards celebration with Silent Auction at Harold’s Cave Creek Corral after the tournament.

dan lebsockThe golf tournament as the “kick-off” to rodeo weekend is an annual DFCA tradition, but this year the DFCA voted unanimously to re-name the tournament in memory of Dan Lebsock, a long time DFCA member who Co-Chaired the Tournament for many years along with his best friend, Dick Gernandt.  The DFCA has also named Dick Gernandt as the 2011 Honorary Chairperson.  Mr. Gernandt said, “We are going to do this one right … for Dan.  We’re going to make him proud of us.”

The DFCA relies heavily on this fundraiser to help with the expense of producing professional rodeo.  “We have to pay for the rodeo first, then we can give back to the community”, said Chris Wilson, DFCA President.  Anyone interested in volunteering to help or donating items for the Raffle prizes or Silent Auction, please contact the DFCA at [email protected]

Rodeo fun continues throughout the weekend at Cave Creek Memorial Arena with thrilling rodeos and barrel racing featuring top-ranking Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) contestants and the Mutton Bustin’ competition.  After the rodeo performances on Friday and Saturday nights, everybody will head straight to Harold’s Corral in Cave Creek for the always fun Rodeo Dances with live music by Mogollon on Friday and by Mogollon and Young Country on Saturday.
