The Desert Foothills has seen a continuing population expansion since the 1870s. The Western Apache and Yavapai Indians used the natural resources of the area to add to their food supply. The first United States citizens to traverse these hills were miners seeking mineral deposits they thought certainly existed just under the surface of mother earth.

Boy Scout Troup 603 honors four with Eagle Scout Ranking

eagle scoutsCAVE CREEK – Troop 603 in Cave Creek is very proud to announce they recently honored four of their Scouts with an Eagle Scout Court of Honor. All four scouts have completed the requirements for Eagle Scout and have had their records examined by an Eagle Scout Board of Review.

In addition to several other requirements, the scout must plan, develop, and give leadership to a service project for any religious organization or any school or community. Each of the four scouts had a unique project in which they devoted much of their time, energy and leadership skills to accomplish. Carefree Earth Day Expo offers free workshops to educate residents on how to reduce electric bills with energy efficiency, free solar power and building design

Residents will learn how to utilize APS solar rebate and state/federal tax credits that will pay for a large percentage energy efficiency, solar hot water heaters and solar power installations

Carefree, Cave Creek, North Phoenix, North Scottsdale and Anthem residents are invited to attend FREE Energy Efficiency and Solar Installation and Design workshops that will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Carefree Council Chambers located at 100 Easy Street, Carefree.
