cshs jv football playersSave five points for Varsity!

At Falcon Stadium, Thursday evening, Sept. 26, Head Coach Spencer Grace’s JVs laid the wood to PV, 34-0. Too bad they couldn’t have “banked” five points for Varsity the next night. Bad joke! (Standing, l-r) Joey Murphy (ORT), Toryn Holm (ORG), Kyle Hajek (C), Dylan Hasse (OLG), Alex Fisher (OL), Cody Fisher (OL/DL).  Scorers, with TDs in parentheses, (kneeling, l-r) were Cruz Baciewicz (3), Connor Folts (1) and Preston Holding (1). Keep on flyin’, JuniorBirds!

cassie poicelotHonoring our National Anthem

When junior Cassie Poincelot sings our National Anthem before a CSHS athletic event (like Volleyball vs. Saguaro, Sept. 26), you are unknowingly privileged to hear it performed as Francis Scott Key wrote it!  Often the most abused piece of our National music, Cassie sings it stirringly at a proud and dignified tempo. Hip-Hoppers need not apply. Same for those artists, many of them famous, who bungle the words and/or put you to sleep! Cassie, daughter of Vanessa Shapiro and Richard Poincelot, is a member of Cactus Shadows’ Honors Choir  and both a flutist and mellophone player in the Falcon Pride Marching Band.  Congratulations, Cassie. You are a very talented young musician.
