A hypocrite and a phony

To the surprise of absolutely no-one, the AZ Republic continues to carry water for the open borders/no borders crowd. On Saturday, they carried a "my turn" by a Mr. Hidalgo, who is president of Chicanos Por La Causa. It purported to be an even-handed, let's-tone-down-the-angry-rhetoric-on-both-sides piece, but in reality was a straw man-filled waste of words. Without any evidence to support his claims, he stated as false many situations that we know to be true. To name just one, Phoenix most certainly is the "No. 2 kidnapping capital of the world" despite his protestations to the contrary.

He then goes on to set up another straw-man using the "some say" construct so beloved of Ear Leader, President Obama. Referencing Arizona's reputation, he states "some feel that even the constitution should not apply." Never mind some ... name one!

He then whines that the term "illegal alien" is "hurtful and dehumanizing." It is actually accurate and succinct. I'll award small credit for eschewing the customary "no human is illegal" bleat, so popular with the crimmigrants. However, he loses points for positing that no person is an "alien." I get so tired of self-righteous fools such as this who, either by deceit, design or ignorance, attempt to re-define words that they do not understand. Before I became a citizen of this great nation, I was the proud holder of a "Resident Alien" card, otherwise known as a green card. Alien simply means, among other things, a foreigner, or someone born in another country. In an article that purports to wish to tone down rhetoric, it would have been refreshing to see Mr. Hidalgo walk the walk, instead of just talking the talk.

Unfortunately, he joins the ranks of other ignorami who, like the folks who think the word "niggardly" is somehow racist, merely demonstrate their lack of education (if I am to be charitable) or the real reason for their obfuscations. Which is the stifling of free speech with which they disagree.

You sir, are a hypocrite and a phony.

POP ... are you a member? I am!

Not Democrat, Not Republican, Not Independent. It's called the "PISSED OFF PARTY" (or POP). This party is dedicated to vote every incumbent out of office in the next elections.

If you're Democrat, vote Democrat. Just don't vote for the incumbent.

If you're Republican, vote Republican. Just don't vote for the incumbent.

We need to send a message to all politicians, that we're tired of their B.S. If the country votes out all the incumbents, the new incoming politicians will get the message.

It's pretty simple. Nobody needs to change parties and let’s face it, there's plenty of blame to spread around.

A few good politicians will lose their job but they probably have better retirement and insurance then 95 percent of the American public.

You've had to struggle for the last five years. Some of you have lost your job and may be working in some other sector just to feed your family.

I guarantee, none of them will suffer like this country has.

If you like what's going on and think this is a bad idea, ignore this. But if you're fed up and think this is a good idea, then pass this message on to others. If you really think this has legs, then a website and a blog could help get the word out.

To all 535 voting members of the Legislature: It is now official; you are ALL corrupt morons:

a. The U.S. Post Service was established in 1775. You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broke.

b. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke.

c. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.

d. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.

e. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broke.

f. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is broke.

g. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil.
It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars.

I believe in health care reform but it's not about the need for good health care, it's about trusting the government to run it!

Much a do about politics

All of us that support SB1070 are committed to the enforcement of existing immigration laws. We want our borders secured to keep one or all of the four groups invading our country out. Contrary to our Presidents recent speech praising immigrants that entered the United States legally culminating in wonderful accomplishments, the immigrants entering our borders from the South are very unlikely to be the ones to find the cure for cancer. There are 4 groups that are prevalent when it comes to border jumping.

1. Drug smugglers
2. Human smugglers
3. Terrorists
4. Relatively uneducated laborers

If I'm missing a group say, teachers, doctors, lawyers, scientists or sports stars please let me know.

I have a question for the President, members of Congress and all United States citizens.

With an estimated 500,000 to 800,000 illegals swarming over the border each year are we all OK with this many people from these groups coming into the USA? Apparently Washington doesn't see a problem. Is it just me or does this seem just plain stupid?

Please tell me if I am missing some benefit to a porous border.

PS. Over 500 people die in our deserts every year during their dash for cash. Is that OK too Mr. President?

Dream act not a dream; it’s a nightmare with a dark side

As a transplanted New Yorker, living in Arizona for the past 15 years, I can honestly say that the amount of reverse discrimination that I have seen and witnessed is enough to fill an encyclopedia of law journals.

That we the people, the legal citizens of this country, must be on continuous guard from drunk aliens, drug and gun running and ID thieves is an abomination and disgrace for the greatest country in the world.

That anyone anywhere thinks these people deserve a dream act and a college education on my dime is as outrageous and disgusting as anything I can conceive. It seems we are being hoodwinked into feeling sorry for these kids who have up to now "not had time to become legal citizens" but have had plenty of time to live here illegally not pay taxes get a free education and free health care while their parents continue to reproduce with no consequences on my tax dollars.

Why is anyone feeling sorry for these people? What dream is that????

This is a fraud of the highest order and all the liberal media are perpetuating this BS.
They are using us and our laws to take, take, take and we are stupid enough to keep giving when charity should begin at home with legal citizens.

I am tired of being told I am racist when I daily see people being shot and innocent people being raped, robbed and killed in the USA. This is a worse war than Iraq. No one in this country is protecting us from this onslaught and then I am expected to pay these people to go to school when they have no desire to become Americans. It is nauseating and disturbing.

This is not the United Nations. This is the United States of America. People died to have us be free but that did not mean that we would give every Mauel, Isabel and Juan all the things we worked our asses off for. Let them speak English, immigrate legally and do it the way we all did it.

The dream belongs to those who are legal citizens. I and everyone in the state of Arizona are fed up with giving our dreams up so they can bulldoze their way around every American loophole (without social security numbers) so they can send for more relatives to come here and take, take, take and reproduce.

We are not in a financial crisis for no reason. Wake up America because you are being hoodwinked by an insidious infiltration that is speaking in Spanish and laughing behind your back about how easy it is to sue the gringo, get money and crap all over our rights. Wake up America! We are losing our country and they think it is theirs!!!

This is not a dream. It’s a nightmare!

Possibly the five best statements you’ll ever read

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

What one person receives without working for, another person must work for – without receiving.

The government cannot give anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, the other half will get the idea that it does no good for them to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for. That, my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation!

You cannot multiply wealth, by dividing it.

Every American citizen needs to read this!

Your publication is by far the most truthful newspaper I have ever had my hands on.

So please if you would publish the enclosed re-print from a speech made by one of our past U.S. Presidents.

As you can see it has to deal with the problems we as a nation are facing in regards to immigration.

Det. Ed Moravek, Ret. | Scottsdale

P.S. Even if you don’t use it keep up your great work.

‘In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.

But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American … There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag … We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.’

~ Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Editor note: According to TruthorFiction.com, “The quote is authentic but some of the wording is different than the original from Teddy Roosevelt. Also, it was not a quote from 1907 but was written in a letter by then former president Roosevelt on January 3, 1919 to the president of the American Defense Society. It was read publicly at a meeting on January 5, 1919. Roosevelt died the next day, on January 6, 1919.”

Why Arizonians are becoming "Home-Less"

I am writing this letter because I am a hard working Arizona resident, who has applied the H.A.M.P program to try and get a loan modification. I am a single mother who was never late on my mortgage payment or any other payment in my life.

When I called my mortgage company (Wells Fargo) last November to explain to them that I was just trying to get my payment down to something more affordable for someone in my position, they told me I was pre-approved for the H.A.M.P. program. They not only told me that I was pre-approved but that " You should take this deal, we don't see this often." At the time I was not only current on my mortgage, but was ahead by $560, because I had been paying my mortgage twice a month so my $1160 payment wasn't such a blow to my finances as my ex-husband had stopped paying child support.

The woman instructed me to pay $659 a month for a three-month trial, she set up my automatic payments on the phone that day. She said that after the trial period this would be my new monthly payment. At the end of my trial period I had not received any documents for a new loan, so I phoned Wells Fargo, and was instructed to continue making the $659 a month payment. I then noticed that I was being charged $50 late fees every month on my mortgage payment. I called Wells Fargo again at which time the man on the phone said not to worry, and that when the loan MOD went through any balance from partial payments would be tacked on to the new loan. He also took the late fee off my account.

Another month or so passed, and I received a notice in the mail saying that I was not approved for the H.A.M.P program citing that I had too much money in reserves and too many assets to qualify. My only assets are my home and my paid off ‘98 VW Cabrio. I was shocked! I don't have a retirement plan, stocks, or even equity in this home, all I had was a meager bank account that has been depleted over the last year.

I phoned Wells Fargo again saying that I needed to be reviewed again for the program, and that it had to be a mistake. I also stated that employees of Wells Fargo should be told not to misrepresent programs or use words like pre-approved, and disclose this kind of information when speaking with customers. The man on the phone told me not to worry and even though I did not qualify for this program that they had submitted my information to other available programs. He also told me that he would have me reviewed again for H.A.M.P, and to continue paying $659. Now my credit has been hard checked twice in the last six months by Wells Fargo, and they have also reported my account as being delinquent to all of the credit bureaus dropping my credit score 87 points in one month. I also just received notice from Wells Fargo saying if I don't pay $3,500 by August 3rd by certified funds they will begin the foreclosure process on my home.

Could it be that hard workings Arizonians (Americans) are being swindled out of their homes by banks who are tanking their credit scores at the same time so we can not even purchase new homes in the future? My story is not the only story I have heard in the last six months. Please help me and the others get this story out so we can stop future citizens from becoming "HOME-LESS."

America gives in to cartel violence

In recognition of heightened security risks for its personnel working on the Border, the United States Department of Agriculture has implemented a new policy for employees who would otherwise work in Mexico. USDA-Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) modified the cattle inspection protocol with Mexico to require APHIS veterinary inspection of imported cattle to occur in the U.S. rather than in Mexico. This change in protocol was caused by U.S. State Department concerns for the safety of American employees working in Mexico due to the escalation of drug cartel-related violence.

Despite the change in policy for the USDA, Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano continues to tell the American public that the U.S./Mexico Border is “as secure as it has ever been.”

Her statement continues to strain credulity, now more so in light of the fact that other agencies of the Federal government such as the United States Department of Agriculture are changing policies and protocol along southern Arizona’s Border because violence from Mexico is a serious concern. Not only are the Federal veterinarians unable to work in Mexico anymore, but Forest Service officials are taking extra precaution on fires and other Forest Service activities because of the increased reality of the threat of violence along the Border.

President Obama and Secretary Napolitano should speak with Secretary Vilsack about his protocol along the Border. Maybe he can explain the threat that his employees face daily. President Obama, when will the federal government take responsibility and take operational control of our southern Border?
