Why am I receiving Schwan's campaign propaganda with my water bill? My over inflated bill is enough, I don't need the added junk mail.

Even though a very small segment of your readers seem to misunderstand the concept of 'editorial,' you continue to do the right thing. It is sad and tragic that those attacking you for exposing CCUSD shortcomings do not invest their time and effort in making CCUSD a better educational environment.

Schwan's state of my town letter is clearly self promoting and fraught with falsehood and political invectives. Either the man has no shame or conscience, or he is too weak-willed to tell his misguided advisors to give it a rest. Their day would not be complete without an attack on Bob Coady, even though he is not running against Schwan in the election. Perhaps Schwan believes in picking on someone his own size, at least physically.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds ($588,000), which David Schwan embraced, is nothing more than a government handout. The major repair work on Cave Creek road he touts will entail a patchwork effort on a small section of roadway and painting the remainder of the identified section black. To paraphrase an old business saying, 'if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with ...' patchwork.

In his State of Our Town Letter dated Jan. 4, 2010, Mayor Schwan says, "Carefree is in a solid and very favorable financial condition." The next day at the Council Meeting, he says that there will be a shortfall of $600,000 in this year's budget. Then on Wednesday at Harold's where he is addressing the Kiwanis Club, he states there will be a shortfall of "only $135,000 in this year's budget." Talk about "misstated facts!!" What are we supposed to believe??

We are lucky to have Mayor Schwan, he is like a modern day David and Goliath. In just the past few council meetings he tackled the renewal of the $100 permit required to have a garage sale in Carefree and increasing the number of directional signs for an open house to five. You’re making a difference David, keep up the big work.

There is an annual contest at Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term. In 2007 the term was "Political Correctness." The winner wrote: "Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

I got a form letter at my home address from four Carefree people, and I’m wondering if it was legally sent. It was addressed to the registered voter at my address and listed PAC ID#2009-05. I didn’t and don’t want lies stuffed in my mailbox. They didn’t have the courage to name names but basically verbally assassinated people whom we all know. On the same level, what can I learn from a Nazi pilot, a planning and zoning woman who is an administration butt kisser, an ex-councilman sycophant for Ed Morgan and a Kiwanian who gathers petition signatures that are useless and they all signed this piece of trash? And I am tired of hearing Schwan needs to have several maladies to be recalled. He doesn’t, but he is seriously unfit.

News release reports USPS lost $3.8 billion in 2009. A net loss of $7.8 billion is projected for 2010. The American Postal Workers Union represents more than 260,000 USPS career employees who receive (as of 2007) an average hourly rate with benefits, premiums and overtime pay of $37.91. That works out to $78,850 annually on average. Yet I haven't read of any plan to cut pay or lay off APWU members. No wonder the service and attitude at a typical post office is so bad! I haven't yet figured out how to never use the USPS, but I'm getting close.

President Obama was quoted as saying recently, "This week presents a window of opportunity for us to prevent a possible third wave of H1N1 flu in the United States." Somehow I missed the news about flu waves one and two, not to be confused with the numerous hype waves to get inoculated.

Not long ago the geniuses in Carefree mounted a vigorous card/letter/e-mail campaign replete with dreadful threats to dictate to us Cave Creek residents on how to vote on Walmart. Do you think that these same geniuses would now be offended if we mounted a similar campaign to dictate to them how to vote for their mayor? I would hope so!

President Obama just completed the UNHOLY and ANTI-AMERICAN TRIFECTA: First president in 110 years to miss the annual Army-Navy Football Game. First president to not attend any Christmas religious observance. First president to stay on vacation after a terrorist attack. Add to that the first President not to stay in Washington for Christmas for the last 20 years. Past Presidents did not leave Washington for Christmas vacation until after Christmas. This was done so that their staff (Secret Service, Air Force One Crew, Limousine transport, Presidential advancing logistics etc.) could be with their families for Christmas.
