Don’t miss the Monday, Oct. 5 voter registration deadline

September 9, 2009

Note: Cave Creek Town Hall will not be open Friday, Oct. 8, so the first day to vote early at Cave Creek Town Hall is Monday, Oct. 11.

Be certain your voice is heard. Vote in the Nov. 3 Election. Monday, Oct. 5 is the last day to register.

To cast a ballot on Propositions 400 and 401 regarding Walmart, you must reside within the boundaries of the Town of Cave Creek.

The Maricopa County Elections Department website (www.recorder.maricopa.gov/web/elections.aspx ) is a gold mine of information, but most of what you need to know follows.

Register by mail
The Arizona Voter Registration Form is available at Cave Creek Town Hall (or download here by clicking on the form above) in which case it must be printed and completed. Make a copy before mailing it if you wish to keep a copy for your records.

Mail the signed completed form to: Maricopa County Recorder, 111 S. 3rd Ave. Ste 102, Phoenix, AZ 85003-2294.

Register to vote or update your registration online
If you wish to register to vote online or you are a registered voter in the State of Arizona and you wish to update an existing registration, you may do so at www.servicearizona.com.

Permanent early voting
Arizona now has a law that allows a voter to place their name on a "Permanent Early Voting List." This means that once a voter is on this list, for each election the voter is qualified, the voter no longer has to request a mailed early ballot. Instead, an early ballot will automatically be mailed to the voter approximately 26 days prior to the specified election.
All early ballots must be received in the office of the County Recorder, other officers in charge of elections, or deposited at any polling place in the county of residence, no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day.

In order to be included on the "Permanent Early Voting List," the voter must make a written request specifically asking their name be added to the permanent list. The request must include the voter's name, residence address, and mailing address within the county they reside (if different from the residence address), date of birth and their signature.

The Permanent Early Voting List Request Form is available at this link. You may download the form or complete the form online and print a copy to sign and mail.
Mail the signed completed form to: Maricopa County Recorder, 111 S. 3rd Ave. Ste 102, Phoenix, AZ 85003-2294.

It is not required to use this specific form to make a request. If one does not have access to print this form, the voter can contact call 602-506-1511 to have one mailed or make a written request asking to be added to the permanent list as long as the required information is included.

Ballot Pamphlets
The Ballot Pamphlet will be available on the town website, www.CaveCreek.org, no later than October 1, but it may be available earlier so you may want to check periodically.
Those currently registered to vote and those who register within the next couple of weeks will receive Ballot Pamphlets in the first mailing, which will be timed closely with the ballots sent to those permanently registered for early voting.

A second mailing of Ballot Pamphlets to those who registered to vote just before the Monday, Oct. 5 deadline will be sent around Oct. 12.
