Culinary Francophiles rejoiced at the Invitation Only Grand Re-Opening of Le Sans Souci last Thursday. There wasn’t an empty table throughout the charming home-styled restaurant as friends and fans of proprietor Louis Germain, renowned for his fine presentation of fresh fish and vegetables – delivered and prepared fresh the same day – came to toast his health and the re-opening of his famous Cave Creek eatery at 7030 E. Bella Vista Drive, 480-488-2856.

Harold’s hosts Hawaiian Luau on Sunday, Sept. 6

Festivities feature Pig Roast Luau Buffet, Ka'ea Mauna Lani Hawaiian Luau Dancers, Grantman & the Island Beat, Limbo & Hula Contests, Face Painting, Lei Making, and more

CAVE CREEK – Harold’s Cave Creek Corral is celebrating the Labor Day weekend with a festive Hawaiian Luau on Sunday, Sept. 6. Festivities feature a pig roast luau buffet, Ka'ea Mauna Lani Hawaiian Luau Dancers, and live band, a reggae performance by Grantman & the Island Beat, a limbo and hula contest, face painting, Lei making, Hawaiian vendors, drink specials and more.

“Come celebrate the end of a long, hot summer at what promises to be our best Hawaiian Luau yet,” said Danny Piacquadio, Harold’s Cave Creek Corral’s managing partner. “Last year’s event was so well-attended that we are adding more buffet stations and an outside bar to accommodate our guests.”

The fun begins at 4:30 p.m. followed by a live Hawaiian Band performing outside at 5 p.m. and the Hawaiian buffet beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The delicious buffet will include succulent roast pork, smoked Mahi Mahi, a shrimp/ seafood casserole, herb roasted chicken, Teriyaki steak, and other traditional Hawaiian cuisine.

The Luau show begins outside at 7:30 p.m. Ka'ea Mauna Lani will perform authentic Hawaiian Luau dances including the traditional “Fire Knife Dance.”

Grantman & the Island Beat perform reggae music, which begins inside at 8:30 p.m.

This is the 12th year Ka'ea Mauna Lani will perform at Harold’s Cave Creek Corral. The group of talented dancers range in age from six years old to teens and adults and will perform dances from Hawaii, Tahiti, and Samoa.

Reservations for the Sept. 6 Hawaiian Luau are required. Tickets are: $25 per adult; $12 for children 12 and under.

Cave Creek Teens present ‘Rock the District’

Concert showcasing local teen musical talent to benefit CCUSD Music Programs

CAVE CREEK – Melissa Nelson, a freshman at Cactus Shadows High School in Cave Creek, is the champion of “Rock the District,” a benefit concert on Sept. 19 from 6 – 9 p.m. at the el Pedregal open-air theater.

Twelve local preteen and teens will express their love for music by sharing their vocal talent and playing their instrument of choice. The purpose of the event is three-fold:
• Raise awareness of the importance of music education for youth
• Provide a venue for local teenage talent to have an opportunity to perform for a large audience
• Raise funds to defray the costs for music education in the Cave Creek Unified Schools

Melissa (age 14) attended a Personal Leadership seminar in June and as part of the curriculum, she developed a “stretch-yourself” goal where she committed to sing and play guitar for a thousand people for the purpose of raising money to support an organization that facilitates music education for young people.

Melissa has been driving her goal forward this summer, and has brought together a group of equally driven peer performers and a stellar group of committed local businesses as sponsors to help make this dream a reality.

“Rock the District is going to be a rockin' evening to not only showcase young talent in our community but also bring in needed dollars to our CCUSD music programs.

Even more special is that one of our very own students and a talented vocalist, Melissa Nelson, came up with this incredible idea to assist the district while highlighting the arts. I hope the community will come out and support this very special event!” – Debbi Burdick, Superintendent, CCUSD.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.CaveCreekTeens.com with a credit card, or a check (made to CSHS PTO; with “Rock the District” in the memo box) can be sent to school with your child. Tickets can also be purchased at the concert. Ticket price is only $5 per student and $10 per adult. Additional donations are enthusiastically accepted.

VIP Tables are available: $100 sponsorship includes VIP seating tickets and promotional visibility at the event.

El Pedregal, located on the Southeast corner of Scottsdale Road and Carefree Highway, will offer Grill dinner items for sale, cocktails, soft drinks, snacks and deserts.
