Foothills Animal Rescue in need of new home

Volunteers needed for Fifth Annual Rita Cohen Memorial Dog Walk
CAVE CREEK – For the past 13 years Foothills Animal Rescue (FAR), a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been providing shelter, care and adoption services for thousands of domestic cats and dogs that are stray, abandoned or become lost each year in north Maricopa County. FAR also provides adoption services for pet owners who must give up their animals due to circumstances beyond their control.

FAROn Aug. 25 FAR was given 30 days notice to move out of their current location.
Although they do not operate a shelter for dogs on the premises, having to relocate their office in less than 30 days means losing a home for approximately 50 cats that roam free and interact around the office instead of being confined to cages.

Volunteers provide temporary foster homes for the numerous dogs and additional cats waiting to be adopted.

FAR is seeking a permanent location for its services and is looking to the community for help with finding the right place, preferably a large commercial property (approximately 2,000 s/f) in the Cave Creek/Carefree area and, due to an extremely limited budget, one it hopes can be acquired on a lease to purchase basis.

If FAR is able to provide suitable office space at their new location, an offer was made to completely furnish it, free of charge, for use as a veterinary office.

Donations are always appreciated, especially as FAR deals with the short timetable in which to find a suitable location and relocate.

Meanwhile, the Fifth Annual Rita Cohen Memorial Dog Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25 and FAR is asking local businesses to provide sponsorships or raffle items for the event. Volunteers are also needed to help with the event.

Sponsorships, which are tax deductable, begin at $200 and will be used to purchase items for the walk such as t-shirts, water, printing, signage, etc.

Sponsors will be listed on the back of the t-shirts. Last year more than 300 people attended the event.

Donated items will be used in FAR’s silent auction or in one of their raffles.

Those interested in becoming a sponsor or setting up a vendor booth for the event can download the Vendor and Sponsorship Agreement forms online from FAR’s website at www.foothillsanimal.org.

FAR is in need of donations, volunteers to provide foster homes for animals awaiting adoption and a suitable property to which FAR can relocate.
