DFT receives seven ariZoni Award nominations for “I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change”


Prestigious ariZoni Theatre Awards of Excellence presented Sept. 29

CAVE CREEK – The nominees for the prestigious ariZoni Theatre Awards of Excellence have been announced and Desert Foothills Theater (DFT), a division of the Foothills Community Foundation, earned seven nominations for its February 2008 production of “I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change,” including Best Overall Production, Non-Contracted Musical.

• Flora Mogerman, Music Director, Non-Contracted Musical
• Danette D'Anjou and Ashleigh Hunt, Actress in a Leading Role, Non-Contracted Musical
• Ben Medina and Michael Stewart, Actor in a Leading Role, Non-Contracted Musical

The ariZoni Theatre Awards is a not-for-profit organization devoted to promoting the visibility and growth of theatre in the Valley of the Sun & Maricopa County. Some 20 cities around the country have "local Tony" programs along the lines of the ariZonis.

The 18th annual ariZoni Theatre Awards of Excellence will be presented on Monday, Sept. 29, with a ceremony at the Herberger Center Theater and celebrations and after-parties at the Hotel San Carlos, both in downtown Phoenix. At the ceremony, awards for the 2007-2008 theater season in Phoenix will be presented. In the course of the year, more than 80 productions from Phoenix area theaters were judged for the awards.DFT

DFT is preparing to entertain audiences in its 34th season with five Main Stage shows that include two romantic comedies, two one-woman shows, and a musical revue. The new 2008-2009 season also includes a fall and spring theatricale, an Oscar Night event, a talent show, and a youth theater presentation.
