Murder victim identified and suspect arrested

lundsfordCAVE CREEK – Mary Elizabeth Hermann, 29, was identified as the woman found murdered on July 8 when Rural/Metro firefighters responded to a Cave Creek house fire at corner of 56th Street and Seven Palms Drive.
Hermann’s body was discovered in an unburned part of the house with her throat slit to near decapitation and multiple stab wounds, later determined by the medical examiner to be the cause of death.

County superintendent appoints Virgil Cain to fill vacancy
CCUSD – Although it was not announced until the next day, Cave Creek Unified School District President Stephanie Reese and board member Gladys Styles Johnston had already prepared their own resignations, dated July 8, by the time they voted to release Superintendent Tacy Ashby from her contract during Tuesday’s governing board meeting.
